How to prepare for Lok Sewa with a weekly plan
The preliminary (objective) paper of most Lok Sewa exams has a fixed number of questions from each part of the syllabus – for example, Kharidar's first paper asks 30 questions from General Knowledge and 20 from the Basic Office Skills Test. Spending your days in the same proportion is the simplest way to stop over-studying favourite topics and leaving weak ones for the end.
What a good Lok Sewa routine looks like
- Study block (morning): the section scheduled for that day – read, make short notes.
- Practice block: 30–50 topic-wise questions on what you just read.
- Current affairs (daily, 20–30 min): newspaper and notices – current affairs appear in almost every GK paper.
- Weekly: one full mock exam under exam time, plus the Friday live exam to compare your rank.
- Revision: clear your Mistake Notebook before starting a new section.
Last two weeks before the exam
The planner keeps the final stretch free of new topics. Use it for full-length mocks, revising notes and mistake cards, and practising when to guess under negative marking. Confirm the exam centre and time from the commission's notice – our PSC calendar links to the official source for every date.
Track what you finish
Pair the plan with the Syllabus Tracker: tick topics as you finish them so you can see exactly which units are left, and use the Study Timer to log your daily focused hours.
