Nepal Telecom Assistant Level 4 (Administration Service) Open Competitive Exam Syllabus:

First Paper: General Knowledge and Intellectual Test

Section (A): General Knowledge (60%)

This section is comprised of 30 multiple-choice questions, each worth 2 marks for a total of 60 marks.

  1. World Geography (50 Marks)

    • Continents, oceans, poles, latitude, longitude, time, distance, mountain ranges, earthquakes, volcanoes, rivers, glaciers, lakes, climate.

    • Geography of Nepal: Landforms, types, characteristics, climate, weather, and human life.

    • Nepal's natural resources and sources of wealth.

    • History of Nepal: Important historical events in Nepal.

    • Traditions, social values, beliefs, arts, culture, customs, religion, ethnicities, languages, population of Nepal.

    • Political divisions of Nepal: Federal provinces and local levels.

    • Nepal's Constitution (Part 1 and 3).

    • Sustainable development, environment, biodiversity, climate change, pollution, population, urbanization, housing, health, diseases, food, and nutrition.

    • Major scientific discoveries affecting human life.

    • United Nations and regional organizations (SAARC, ASEAN, European Union).

    • National and international current events of significance.

  2. Institutional Knowledge (10 Marks)

    • Development of telecommunications services in Nepal and introduction to Nepal Telecom.

    • Latest technologies, tools, inventions, and terminologies related to telecommunications and information technology (IT).

    • Basic scientific measurements and units (CGS, MKS, FPS, SI System).

    • General information about ITU and other telecommunications service providers in Nepal.

Section (B): Intellectual Test (40%)

This section is comprised of 20 multiple-choice questions, each worth 2 marks for a total of 40 marks.

  1. Verbal Logical/Reasoning Test

    • Vocabulary, sequence, similarity, classification, coding-decoding, direction and distance, logical reasoning, series order, induction, and deduction.

  2. Quantitative (Numerical or Mathematical) Logical Test

    • Sequence, similarity, classification, coding, missing numbers (letters/signs), common factors, matrices, data interpretation, and arithmetic reasoning.

  3. Non-verbal Logical Test

    • Sequence, similarity, uniformity, classification, visual analysis, Venn diagrams, matrices, construction of triangles and squares, pattern recognition, and analysis of diagrams or figures.

Second Paper: Service-Related

Section (A): Office Management and Financial Accounting (40%)

This section consists of topics related to office management and financial systems, covering the following:

  1. Office and Office Management

    • Introduction to the office, its importance, functions, and types.

    • Roles and qualities of office assistants.

    • Concept and importance of office management.

    • Introduction, types, and usage of office resources and materials.

  2. Office Procedures

    • Registration and handling of files and correspondence.

    • Writing comments and things to consider when preparing them.

    • Introduction to report writing, its types, and things to remember while preparing reports.

  3. Record Management

    • Introduction to record keeping, its purpose, and necessity.

    • Filing systems: Introduction, need, methods, and procedures.

    • Indexing: Introduction, importance, and types.

  4. Computer Systems in Office Management

    • Necessity and importance of computer systems in office management.

  5. Communication in Office Management

    • Importance, types, and mediums of communication within an office.

    • Public relations management in the office.

    • Meeting management and minutes writing.

  6. Customer Complaints Management

    • Methods for handling customer grievances.

  7. Inventory Management

    • Introduction to inventory management, its importance, and materials management.

  2. Nepal Telecommunications Company Ltd.

Nepal Telecom Assistant Level 4 Exam Syllabus and Examination Scheme

The Nepal Telecom Assistant Level 4 (Administrative Service, Administrative Group) open competitive exam consists of two stages: the written examination and the interview.

First Stage: Written Examination

The written examination is worth a total of 200 marks and is divided into two papers:

  1. Paper 1: General Knowledge and Intellectual Test

    • Marks: 100

    • Passing Marks: 40

    • Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

    • Number of Questions: 50

    • Duration: 45 minutes

  2. Paper 2: Service-Related Subject

    • Marks: 100

    • Passing Marks: 40

    • Question Type: Short Answer and Long Answer

    • Questions: 12 questions (5 marks each) and 4 questions (10 marks each)

    • Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Second Stage: Interview

The second stage consists of an interview, which is worth 30 marks. The interview is conducted in an oral format, and no specific passing marks are mentioned.

Examination Guidelines and Important Points

  • Languages: The written examination can be conducted in Nepali, English, or both.

  • Negative Marking: For incorrect answers in the MCQ section, 20% of the marks for each incorrect answer will be deducted.

  • Answer Format: Answers to MCQs should be written in capital letters (A, B, C, D). Using lowercase letters or any other symbols will lead to disqualification.

  • Calculator: No calculators are allowed during the exam.

  • Electronic Devices: Mobile phones and other electronic devices are not allowed in the exam hall.

  • Multiple Answer Sheets: For subject-specific papers, each section will have a separate answer sheet. Candidates must write answers for each section on the corresponding answer sheet.

  • Legal and Policy Updates: Any laws, acts, rules, or policies referred to in the syllabus must be updated within three months prior to the exam date.

Eligibility for Interview

Only candidates who pass the written examination will be eligible to participate in the interview stage.
