- Duration: 45 minutes.
- Negative Marking: A 20% mark deduction will be applied for each incorrect answer, but no marks will be given or deducted for unanswered questions.

The syllabus is divided into nine sections, with marks allocated as follows:
- General Awareness (40 Marks): This section covers a wide range of topics.
- Geography, Environment and Population (10 marks): Topics include world geography (continents, oceans, mountains, rivers, lakes) and Nepal’s geography, focusing on its physical features, natural resources, and climate. It also covers biodiversity, sustainable development, climate change, and urbanization.
- History and Culture (10 marks): Candidates should have knowledge of important historical events of the world and Nepal’s history, including the Kiranta, Lichchhavi, and Medieval periods.
- Economic Aspects and Development (10 marks): This section focuses on Nepal’s economic indicators like GDP, per capita income, and balance of payment. It also includes the current status of key sectors like agriculture, industry, and tourism, as well as the long-term goals of Nepal’s current periodic plan.
- Governance and Constitution (10 marks): Topics include the meaning and sources of law, constitutional development in Nepal, and a detailed understanding of Parts 1 to 5 and the Schedules of the Constitution of Nepal.
- International Affairs (10 marks): This covers Nepal’s bilateral relations with major countries and a general understanding of international organizations like the UNO, SAARC, BIMSTEC, ASEAN, World Bank, and IMF.
- Science, Technology, Public Health and Current Affairs (10 marks): The syllabus includes scientific measurement, major inventions, computer knowledge, public health, and national and international current events.
- Management (10 Marks): This section, titled “Office & Public Management,” covers the functions and types of offices, communication, and office procedures like correspondence, filing, and records management. It also includes concepts of public management, e-governance, human values, and discipline.
- Mathematics (10 Marks): The “Applied Mathematics” section includes fundamental operations, unitary method, fractions, decimals, percentages, profit and loss, interest, and probability.
- Service-Related (20 Marks): This section is dedicated to “Public Enterprises” and is a crucial part of the exam. It includes the concept, objectives, and development of public enterprises, their classification, and current status in Nepal. Other topics are corporate governance, the role of public enterprises in economic development, privatization, human resource management, and financial literacy.
Important Notes for Candidates
- No calculators are allowed during the exam.
- The medium of the question paper will be in both Nepali and English.
- The syllabus content is based on the constitution, laws, and policies that were in effect three months prior to the exam date.
- Passing this Loksewa prequalification exam is the first step. Only successful candidates will be eligible for the main examination. The passing certificate is valid for one year.
